Share your Rig between EasyLog and WSJT-X / JTDX / MSHV

This week's Tips&Tricks is a helpful revisit for new users and Newsletter readers, focusing on an article about radio support with OmniRig and the sharing of equipment between EasyLog, WSJT-X / JTDX, and MSHV.

Did you know you can control your Rig from EasyLog while working on FT8 with WSJT-X, JTDX, or MSHV?

By using OmniRig, a free utility available at dxatlas.com, you can manage your Rig efficiently. OmniRig facilitates communication through interprocess, allowing multiple applications compatible with it to share radio control.

If you're installing OmniRig for the first time, choose versions 1.19 or 1.20, and be sure to restart EasyLog and your computer if needed.

Once OmniRig is installed, you can configure up to two different Rigs through the EasyLog Radio menu by selecting the model from a list and setting the communication parameters.

To set up OmniRig RIG 1, (refer to figure 1) click on Radio Interface 5 (1) in the EasyLog Radio menu. Then, click on the None (3) label to open the OmniRig configuration window.

It is now possible to select the RIG 1 tab, the device model from Rig Type, the port, and other communication parameters (see figure 2 below).

By clicking the OK button, the Radio5 interface should display the transceiver's frequency and allow you to change frequency, mode, etc.

Now you need to configure your WSJT-X / JTDX to use OmniRig.

Open the settings window, click on File | Settings and go to the Radio tab

Open the Rig dropdown menu and scroll to find Omnirig1, then select it. WSJT-X should now be able to control your rig remotely via Omnirig.

Remember, to share the Rig between EasyLog and WSJT-X/JTDX, you must follow the correct launch order:

• First, start EasyLog
• Then, start WSJT-X.
