| | A message from the founders | Dear readers,
In recent days, we have received some requests that made us reflect. They were not about new features, but something deeper: the possibility for those with significant visual impairments to use EasyLog.
This is a topic that fits into a path we started some time ago. For years, we have been improving the EasyLog interface to make it clearer, more coherent, and easier to use. Many users may have already noticed: more organized screens, more readable options, and a greater focus on usability.
In this direction, we are also implementing measures for those who, with the passing of years, might have more difficulty reading: clearer fonts, larger sizes, and new more comfortable options. Now we want to take a step further. In the coming weeks, we will begin engaging with some users who use screen reading technologies, such as NVDA and JAWS, to make EasyLog usable in these conditions as well.
This is an area that involves not just the visual aspect but also the way the software communicates and is used. The goal remains the same as always: to make EasyLog increasingly simple, clear, and accessible for everyone. | 73, Good DX! IK1TZO Pietro and IW1DGL Franco |

| | Latest News | | | | | | | We are working on a new book available in ebook format and printed on Amazon, dedicated to all radio amateurs who finally want to make peace with the computer 😊
It will be a practical guide designed to truly understand how the PC works and use it confidently in their radio station: from fundamental concepts to managing software, drivers, USB, and more advanced configurations. Not a theoretical manual, but something concrete, written with a simple goal: to make the computer an ally, not a problem. It also contains a brief history of the PC, to understand where we come from... and why today it has become so important even in radio.
📅 We do not have a release date yet, but we will be back soon with more details. | | | We are working on a new release | |  |  |  | |  | |  | |  |  |  |
| We are working on a new release that, among other updates, will include an important upgrade to further enhance the user experience of EasyLog on Windows 11. In the upcoming release, all software components will be digitally signed according to the latest security standards. An invisible improvement that will make installation and startup even smoother and uninterrupted.
In anticipation of a future evolution of the user interface, we are working on a series of optimizations to further improve the user experience. In this process, we have started collaborating with some visually impaired users, analyzing interaction with major screen readers such as JAWS and NVDA. The goal is to make EasyLog increasingly accessible and fully usable even by those with significant visual impairments. |

|
| | Tips & Tricks | This week we address a frequently recurring question about the QSO indicator which is sometimes not interpreted correctly. | | | | | | Â | Â | Â | | Â | | Â | | Â | Â | Â |
| The QSO indicator, visible at the bottom left of the main EasyLog window, displays two numbers in the format nnnnn / nnnnn [1].
The first number indicates the current record, which is the position of the QSO where the cursor is currently located.
The second number, separated by a slash "/", represents the total number of QSOs in the log. The record number is sequential and is automatically assigned to each new QSO entered.
|
|
| If a QSO is deleted, the corresponding record number is removed along with the QSO.
Scrolling down the log records, the first number will change, but not necessarily in a progressive way. Why?
The reason is that the record number depends on the currently selected order (see [2]). For example, if the sorting is by date + time, the number will appear progressive only if the QSOs were entered in the chronological order in which they were conducted.
If instead more recent QSOs are entered and then older QSOs, or previous logs are imported, the record number may appear "out of order" when scrolling through the log.
Additionally, if some QSOs have been deleted, it can happen that the record number is higher than the total number of QSOs.
If the "no index" sorting is selected, the QSOs will be shown in the order of entry and the number will grow progressively when scrolling down the log.
With other sorting, such as by Call, the record number can seem to advance and retreat in an apparently irregular way.
This is all normal: the record number solely represents the order of the QSO's entry in the log. |
