In the new release 2024.1.0.10, a new version of EasyLog Cloud Backup is included. EasyLog has always placed great emphasis on the security of your data. This Tip&Tricks will discuss Backup and Data Security. 

Regularly backing up your data is crucial for its security

Few things are more frustrating than discovering that a hardware issue with your disk has caused the loss of thousands of valuable QSOs, QSL credits, diploma statuses — the result of years of dedication and passion. Lost forever.

Even more so if one realizes they haven't made a backup for months or if the backup they were relying on is not recoverable from that now unreadable USB stick

The 3-2-1 Backup Principle

The 3-2-1 backup principle is a commonly used backup strategy that increases the number of backups stored and diversifies the storage location of the backups. 

The rule states that you must have at least three copies of your data:

• 2 of these backups must be stored on different types of media 

• at least 1 backup must be stored offsite or in the cloud.

The goal of the 3-2-1 backup principle is to ensure that, in case of a backup failure, other backups are available to protect critical data.

How to Backup in EasyLog

EasyLog includes a dedicated Backup module that can be automatically initiated upon closing EasyLog to start a security backup. The Backup module automatically compresses the data to save space and can generate Circular backups to have multiple incremental copies and enhance security.  

The Backup module included in EasyLog allows you to perform the two backups of the 3-2-1 principle quickly and effectively by copying the backups to two different media, an external drive and a computer or two external drives or two different USB sticks.   

To configure the Backup start at EasyLog closure, open the Log menu and check Start backup on exit. Click on Local to start the Local Backup module. Upon closing EasyLog, the Backup module will open automatically, and you can perform the backup in just a few clicks. To start the Backup Module manually, open the Modules menu.

EasyLog Cloud Backup

EasyLog 2024 has introduced a new service: EasyLog Cloud Backup through the module of the same name. By subscribing to this service, you will have the ability to make backups on our Cloud from anywhere you are and synchronize multiple computers in just a few clicks. 

By applying the 3-2-1 Backup model, EasyCloud Backup will allow you to create an additional backup copy on our Cloud managed by a provider we have rigorously chosen for its extremely high standards of security and reliability.

KC4/KB1EHE, KC4/KB1IFZ Antarctica

KB1EHE and his wife KB1IFZ will be on an Antarctica DXpedition.  ,

They operate on 20m SSB and FT8.  They will try to get on the air nightly (SSB) on 14.243 MHz +/-.  Mostly from 0000 to 0200 UTC. But, depending on band conditions, it maybe as broad as 2300 to 0300 UTC. If the band conditions are not supportive of SSB, we will be on FT8. 

QSL via direct with SASE or LoTW.

IA0/IZ1KHY/M, Antarctica

Danilo has got chances to operate Mobile, while doing tech measurement on the path from LDC to Concordia.

1^st Lieutenant Danilo Collino IZ1KHY, is a keen Radioamateur who is involved this year in his 4^th season in Antarctica where he has been appointed as Chief, responsible at Little Dome C-Beyond Epica Camp (LDC).
