A message from the founders

Beyond the Waves, Towards Peace

Dear readers,

In the previous issue, we talked about a connected world.Of invisible threads that unite continents, cultures, languages.

Today we want to take a further step.

In days when the news talks about divisions, tensions, and conflicts, radio continues to do what it has always done: build bridges.

The radio amateur does not ask for a passport.

Does not ask which side you are on.

Does not ask about your political history.

Only asks: "Do you receive me?"

And in that simple question, there is something profoundly human.

Every QSO is an act of trust.

Every connection is a small gesture of peace.Every exchange of 59, a name, a "73" is proof that we can talk even when governments cannot.

We radio amateurs cross borders without violating them.We enter distant homes without invading them.We listen before speaking. We respect before judging.

The ether knows no walls. The waves do not stop at the borders.

And perhaps precisely for this reason, amateur radio is one of the purest forms of international dialogue. When a station on the other side of the world answers your CQ, at that moment, there are no conflicts. There are only two people sharing a frequency.

In our own small way, we continue to show that communication is not noise, but encounter. And if a connected world can be more sustainable,

a world that listens to itself can also be more peaceful.

At EasyLog, we are proud to support a community that, every day, builds invisible bridges between different cultures.

We continue to transmit respect.

We continue to transmit curiosity.

We continue to transmit peace.

Because sometimes a weak but sincere signal is enough to remind us that we are all on the same frequency.

73 e Buoni DX!

FT8.it read the review on our FT8 and FT4 Manual

We are pleased to share the review recently published by the authoritative site on digital ways FT8.it

In the realm of digital modes, FT8 and its "fast brother" FT4 have literally revolutionized radio operations in recent years. Whether you are a seasoned HF operator or newly licensed, the volume "FT8 and FT4 Handbook: A Practical Guide for Radio Amateurs to Maximize FT8 Potential" serves as the ultimate compass for navigating these digital waters.

What is it about?
It's not the usual instruction manual that only tells you where to click. This text delves deep, analyzing not just the software setup (which is fundamental, of course) but focusing on making the station truly efficient. The focus is clear: maximizing performance.

The manual's strengths
The book is structured to guide the operator through a logical path:

Optimal Configuration: Detailed explanations on time synchronization (crucial for these protocols) and audio gain management to avoid distortions and "splatter."

Operational Strategies: It's not enough to transmit; you need to know when and where to do it. The manual offers intriguing insights on how to interpret the waterfall and manage the virtual "pile-up" during contests or DX activations.

Software Integration: Ample space is dedicated to the ecosystem surrounding WSJT-X and JTDX, including logging software and alert systems.

Why read it?

In an era where signals are often weak and urban electromagnetic noise (QRM) is at its peak, mastering FT8 means achieving contacts that would be impossible in voice.

What we particularly appreciated:

Clear Language: It avoids unnecessary academic technicalities, speaking the language of radio amateurs.

Practical Approach: It’s clear that the author has spent hours in front of the waterfall; the advice is born from field experience, not just theory.

Final Verdict
If you have just downloaded WSJT-X and feel overwhelmed by the settings, or if you've used FT8 for a while but feel you're not fully exploiting its potential, this manual is an excellent investment for your station.
It’s a guide that deserves a place on the shelf (or the desktop) of every modern radio amateur.

This Second Edition 2025, updated and expanded, includes new chapters and revised content to meet the needs of modern radio amateurs, from beginners to the most experienced operators.

Tips & Tricks

In this issue, we answer some questions received in support that may be useful to other users

When I enter a new QSO, it no longer extracts the data from the online Callbook

I installed EasyLog on a new computer and migrated the Logs, I noticed that it no longer extracts data from qrz.com, what happened?

Estrai QSO dal Log

Open the QSO entry window and click on settings (1.)

Check that the checkmark in the QSO entry window is present (2.)

When I enter a new QSO it no longer extracts data from the online Callbook

What do the red numbers on the Panel Cluster mean?

Estrai QSO dal Log

The number in red at the bottom right of each panel represents the number of stations that have spotted the DX station. Here is a more detailed explanation below

Estrai QSO dal Log
  1. Click the name to open the Running
  2. The LoTW panel shows if a station is registered with LoTW and how often it updates the number in parentheses indicates the number of days since the last update. Green means very frequent updates
  3. Number of stations spotting the DX-station
  4. Click the frequency to tune the radio (if CAT is configured)
