How to set Microsoft Defender SmartScreen
With the latest Windows and browser updates, there have been problems downloading updates from the Private Area of easylog.com.
The problem is due to the introduction in Windows 10 of Microsoft Defender SmartScreen a tool to prevent the downloading of potentially dangerous files from the Internet.
The problem is that this system prevents the downloading of any .exe / .zip files unless complicated steps are taken to authorise the files to be downloaded one by one.
Not all browsers are currently affected by the problem. Both Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are currently immune, so a shortcut is to use one of these two browsers.
Microsoft Edge
This browser is affected by the configuration of Defender SmartScreen:
When you download a file with Edge, you may be confronted with a warning, such as 'the file has been blocked because this type of file can damage your device'.
Here's how to disable it:
1. Click in the top right-hand corner on the [...] menu.
2. Select the 'Privacy, search and services' menu
3. Scroll down until you reach the Security section
Deactivate Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
From now on, downloads will no longer be
blocked!
