Tips & Tricks
Share your transceiver between EasyLog and WSJT-X / JTDX
Did you know you can control your RIG from EasyLog even while working on FT8 through
WSJT-X / JTDX?
You can achieve this using OmniRig, a free external utility available on dxatlas.com. OmniRig manages your rig and enables applications to interact with the transceiver CAT via interprocess communication, allowing multiple applications that support OmniRig to share control of the transceiver.
Please note that if you install OmniRig for the first time, use Ominirig 1.19 or 1.20 versions and restart EasyLog and your computer if needed.
After installing Omnirig on your computer, from the EasyLog Radio menu you can set up until two different rigs trough Omnirig, selecting the model from a list and setting up the communication parameters.
EasyLog supports OmniRig, trough Rig 5 and Rig 6 interfaces.
- EasyLog Rig 5 corresponds to OmniRig RIG1
- EasyLog Rig 6 to OmniRig RIG2.
To setup OmniRig RIG, (see figure 1) click on Radio Interface 5 (1) on EasyLog Radio Menu, then click on the None label (3) to open the OmniRig setup Dialog box.
Now you can then select RIG 1 tabsheet , the Rig Type the Port and the other communication parameters (see figure 2 below).
By clicking the Ok button, the display of Radio5 interface should show your transceiver frequency and you should be able to change frequency, mode etc.
Now you need to setup your WSJT-X / JTDX to use OmniRig as well.
Open the settings dialog box, click on the File | Settings menu and select the Radio tabshhet
Now pull down the Rig combo box and scroll until you see Omnirig1, select it. WSJT-X should be able to remote controlling your rig trough Omnirig
Please note that in order to be able to share the rig between EasyLog and WSJT-X/JTDX you need to respect the order of launch;
- first you launch EasyLog
- then you can launch WSJT-X.
